Among them, the second prize for technological inventions, micro-structured chemical mass transfer equipment and its industrial applications, invented a series of micro-structured elements and their amplification and integration methods, and created a variety of microstructured mass transfer equipment, successfully applied to the preparation of nano-calcium carbonates. In the large-scale industrial production such as extraction and purification of wet-process phosphoric acid and caprolactam acid group extraction, a major breakthrough has been achieved in the miniaturization of chemical equipment from concept to industrial practice, such as the micro-meshing device with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year P2O5. And the manufacturing cost is only 1/2000 and 1/50 of the imported equipment. The project was granted 11 invention patents and 68 SCI papers. The promotion and application of micro-structured equipment will help the chemical industry to advance toward high efficiency, greenness and safety, and produce significant economic and social benefits. According to incomplete statistics, the project has accumulated economic benefits of 933 million yuan in the past three years.

The second-class HFCs gas phase fluorination catalyst preparation and industrial application technology project that also won the second prize for technological invention has been granted 23 national invention patents, and has won the China Patent Excellence Award, the Special Prize for Invention and Entrepreneurship, etc., and formed the system intellectual property rights. Another feature of this year's award-winning project is the extensive participation of companies. Among the 27 projects that won the Science and Technology Progress Award, the participation rate of enterprises reached more than 90%. This shows that the status of enterprises as the main body of innovation is constantly being strengthened. For example, the safety, high-efficiency development technology and industrial application projects of ultra-deep, high-sulfur gas fields jointly completed by Sinopec and many other companies, universities, and research institutes have won the National Science and Technology Progress Grand Prize. The key technology for multi-stage fracturing and production stimulation of horizontal wells and completion of large-scale industrial application projects completed by CNPC and other companies has won the first prize for scientific and technological progress. In addition, the technological innovation platform for controlled-release fertilizer technology that won the second prize for national science and technology progress was independently undertaken by Shandong Jinzhengda Ecological Engineering Co., Ltd.

The 2012 National Top Science and Technology Award was awarded to two academicians Zheng Zhemin and Wang Xiaojian. Five foreign experts, including US chemist Richard Jair, won the People's Republic of China International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award this year.
