Recently, marine paint manufacturer Hempel launched a new pure epoxy coating, Hempadur 15460, to replace its Hempadur 15400 TANK coating. Hempadur 15460 Tank Coating is an amine based adduct based epoxy resin technology tank coating designed specifically for chemical tankers. According to the manufacturer, the coating can be continuously immersed in a range of chemicals, including crude oil at temperatures up to 80oC. The coating will not only utilize non-toxic products, but can also be used to paint all liquid cargo tanks. The coating is also suitable for grey and black water tanks, mud and salt water tanks, refrigerated marine fish tanks and other ship storage tanks.
According to Haihong Old Brand, the benefits of Hempadur 15460 coating include reduced volumetric discharge of high-capacity solids; low cargo absorption and retention, which means faster turnaround and increased flexibility; and two coats of paint System coating to reduce coating time. Hempadur 15460 coating also uses a high cross-link density technology, which creates an internal matrix that increases advanced chemical resistance and low cargo rate and retention. In addition, this new pure epoxy coating has a high glass transition temperature; provides high temperature resistance, improved wear resistance, extended maximum recoating intervals, and a hard, smooth and shiny surface that is easy to clean. .
It is reported that this new tank coating meets the requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration for the transportation of liquid foods, in order to resist the development of various oil products, including refined oil, heavy oil products, crude oil, benzene, ketones, greases and corrosives.
