Large-scale plastic granulators begin to implement localization

Dalian Rubber & Plastics Machinery Co., Ltd. recently announced that the company's 200,000-ton large-scale plastic granulator will be started to manufacture. China's first large-scale plastic granulator has entered the official implementation stage. The 200,000-ton plastic granulator development project was listed as a National Development and Reform Commission's major equipment domestically produced national debt project. According to the plan, the first domestically produced 200,000-ton unit will be successfully developed in early 2009 and subsequently applied to Yanshan Petrochemical Company.

Plastic granulator is a major equipment in the post-treatment process of polyethylene and polypropylene devices. It integrates machinery, electrical and instrumentation, and has a high level of automation. It is one of the key equipment for large-scale ethylene projects. At present, only a few companies such as the German company W.P. have the design, manufacture, installation and debugging technologies. Domestically, it has cooperated with foreign companies to manufacture several 70,000-ton plastic granulators, but it has not been completely successful.

The large-scale plastic pelletizing units require a production capacity of over 50 tons per hour, which is equivalent to an annual output of 300,000 to 400,000 tons. It is difficult to design and manufacture, and the price is very expensive in the international market. The single unit price is 5 million to 700. Ten thousand U.S. dollars. In spite of this, due to the rapid increase in demand for granulators in recent years, foreign granulator products are still in demand, and demand exceeds supply.

Relevant experts pointed out that large-scale, precise and advanced control technologies are currently the direction of research and development for large-scale plastic granulators. At the same time, users are increasingly demanding the mechanical stability and energy saving and consumption reduction of the units. At present, the single-line production capacity of polyethylene and polypropylene units in the world has reached 500,000 tons, which requires that the granulation units must not only have a large scale of production, but must also be reliable and stable in operation. The large scale of the unit must be refined at the same time. Some plastic special materials need precise extrusion. However, in order to realize precise extrusion, the melt gear pump must be developed and researched. In addition, large plastic granulation units also need to have an intelligent system that combines high performance, high raw material utilization, low energy consumption, low pollution, and environmental comfort.

The plastic pelletizers in developed countries have generally achieved online detection of process parameters throughout the granulation process and have adopted closed-loop computer control, which is very beneficial to ensure the stability of process conditions and improve product accuracy. Compared with foreign countries, China's plastic granulator design and manufacturing technology is still relatively backward. At present, only small and medium-sized equipment is being developed, and extrusion granulators for large and medium-sized polyolefin devices all rely on imports.

It is understood that in recent years, Dalian Rubber & Plastics Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the design of 70,000 to 100,000-ton plastic granulation units and mastered the manufacturing processes and special technologies of major components through independent research and the introduction of new technologies.
