Evonik is building a cyanuric chloride base in Shanghai

The foundation laying ceremony of the cyanuric chloride production base invested and constructed by Evonik Degussa Sanzheng (Yingkou) Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. was recently held in Chongqing Industrial Park. Degussa Sanzheng (Yingkou) Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. is a joint venture company of Evonik Industries AG. Currently, Evonik is planning to increase its leading position in the global cyanuric chloride market.
The construction of a new production base will be completed by the end of 2008, when about 280 employees will work at the base. With the completion of the new base, China's annual output of cyanuric chloride will also double to 60,000 tons. Dr. Ying Kaishi, director of the Evonik Group's chemical business, said: “The construction of the new base will help consolidate our position in the market. With the rapid growth of the Chinese economy, Evonik plans to start from 2009. As the core area for the development of cyanuric chloride business, it is particularly important for us to achieve localization of production and better meet customer needs."
The project responsible for this project was the Degussa Sanzheng (Yingkou) Fine Chemical Co., Ltd., a joint venture of Evonik. The company is located in Yingkou City, northeastern China, and was established in 2005. Evonik Group holds 65% equity. Degussa's three levy has now become a famous cyanuric chloride manufacturer in China and Asia.
Chongqing Industrial Park, located in western China, has attracted Degussa Sanzheng to build a cyanuric chloride production base here due to its abundant raw material supply and good industrial infrastructure. The investment and construction of cyanuric chloride production base is just one of a series of major investment projects that Evonik has recently made in China. Evonik Industries is an innovative industrial group focused on the development of three highly profitable and promising industrial sectors: chemicals, energy and real estate. The group began producing specialty chemical products in China as early as the early 1990s, and currently has 18 companies in China.
