ZF's 2011: Steadily moving forward

In the past 2011, it was an extraordinary year for ZF Transmission Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. , with sales revenue reaching 72 million euros, a record high. Among them, the entire new generation EcoLife automatic transmission market performed well. Automatic Mechanical Transmission (AMT) also achieved batch applications in Suzhou Bus. Domestically-manufactured mechanical gearboxes, low-floor axles and steering gears, as ZF’s main products, have also continued to maintain steady development.

AMT sales breakthrough

Based on the above sales figures alone, the AMT gearbox sales are not large, but its significance is remarkable: since 2007, more than 1,000 Volkswagen Proteus and Beta buses using this transmission have been put into operation in Brazil, and the new ASTroniclite proved to be successful. of. After four years of full market preparation, AMT finally formed a batch application in Suzhou Bus. Up to now, the ZF AMT has matched passenger cars of four bus companies such as Hagrid, and has nearly 400 units in Suzhou, plus about 500 applications in Nantong and Shanghai.

The general manager of ZF Transmission Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., Liao Liheng, has always believed that AMT (mechanical automatic transmission) is a form of gearbox that is now more applicable to the Chinese public transportation market: “Compared with the new ASTriclite and mechanical transmissions, the fleet The average fuel consumption can be reduced by a maximum of 3%-5%, and the clutch life can be doubled. The electronic diagnosis system simplifies the maintenance and repair work and can further reduce the use cost."

Compared to other Chinese parts and components companies, the promotion of ZF AMT in China is somewhat slow. In 2006, the ZFAMT mechanical automatic transmission began to be matched in China. In 2007, Jinhua Neoplan launched the first road passenger car equipped with ZF AMT transmission, and it has been more than four years in batch applications in 2011. The general manager of Liao Liheng explained to the China Bus Network reporter: “ZF's consistent and rigorous attitude and careful and patience work have resulted in a very good market after a long period of technical application matching, small batch, and systematic trial operation. The response, at the same time, ensures the reliability of the batch operation."

ZFron's ASTronicLite, which is sold on the Chinese market, is available in two models, both produced and supplied by the ZF Suzhou plant. The smaller new 6AS710BO is suitable for passenger cars with a total weight of 6-12 tons, a total length of 6-9m, and a maximum engine output torque of 700Nm. The other larger model 6AS1010BO has a total weight of 9-18 tons, a total length of 9-12m, and a maximum engine output torque of 1050Nm. With these two models, ASTronicLite can be widely used in medium, light and minibuses, and these buses are often used as a complement to the BRT. According to reports, ZF will launch a hybrid version of AMT for the Chinese market in 2012.

Deepen Cooperation and Deepen the Chinese Market

User recognition and market share are the best ways to test products. Since 2011, ZF has conducted several exchanges with Chinese companies and user companies to further deepen cooperation and have brought ZF quality products and services to them. .

The introduction of ZF's products widely used in China's passenger car market forced ZF's low-floor axles to be the best touchstone for ZF's products in the Chinese market. The prelude to in-depth cooperation between ZF and China's public transport companies was unveiled. Since then, the low-floor public transport has become a manifestation of urban public transport comfort and humanity. Afterwards, ZF low-floor axles have been applied in batches in Shanghai public transport and Hangzhou public transport, and the first-grade steps have brought convenience and comfort to public transport passengers. In the 2011 vehicle update, ZF low-floor axles were adopted in large quantities by Qingdao Bus, Urumqi Bus, and Shenzhen Bus. Among them, 320 low-floor buses equipped with ZF RL85A axles in the first half of the year debuted in Shenzhen, perfectly serving Shenzhen's 26th World University Summer Games. In addition, buses equipped with ZF low floor axles have gradually entered the second and third tier cities in China. In 2011, bus companies such as Kunshan, Zaozhuang, Changde, and Ordos began to use buses equipped with ZF low-floor axles to serve the daily travel of local residents. It is believed that in the future, ZF will continue to lead the low-floor trend of bus passengers to be further popularized and deepened in more cities in China.

In the course of further cooperation with commercial vehicle companies in China in 2011, ZF adopted the “Technical Communication Day” to demonstrate high-quality products and concepts. In June, the “Dongfeng-ZF Commercial Vehicle Technology Day” jointly held by ZF and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle was held in Wuhan. 9 experts were sent from ZF Commercial Vehicle Technology Division to ZF respectively. Light truck transmissions, medium and heavy truck transmissions, commercial vehicle shock absorbers, clutches, chassis, steering gear, passenger car transmissions and axles, hybrids, and rubber and metal products are described in detail. On the Fukuda-ZF Technical Exchange Day, Dr. Ye Guohong, President of ZF (China) Investment Co., Ltd., Mr. Rolf Lutz, President of ZF Commercial Vehicles Division, and Mr. Dai Zhangjun, President of ZF Commercial Vehicles China, etc. All the leaders arrived. ZF is willing to deepen its cooperation with Chinese commercial vehicle companies. The successful holding of the exchange meeting has indeed achieved the desired results, not only enhancing the communication and friendship between the two parties, but also laying a solid foundation for future cooperation and development.

In 2011, ZF took the rigorous attitude that German companies always followed, and this is exactly where a company matures. Liao Liheng stated that "ZF has an annual plan every year and it will advance step by step according to the plan and will not leap forward." For this reason, we also look forward to ZF's more robust 2012.
