REV Fire Group, a division of REV Group Inc., one of the top manufacturers of specialty vehicles and related aftermarket parts and services, is set to launch the first fully electric fire truck designed for North American fire departments.
This groundbreaking vehicle was developed in partnership with Emergency One Group LTD, the company behind the world’s first electric fire truck. The new model features 316 kW of high-performance automotive-grade batteries, providing the longest electric pumping duration available in the industry. This means fire departments can operate both driving and pumping functions entirely on electricity.
"Our advanced battery system allows us to complete a full NFPA pump test while keeping the truck safer and more stable due to its lower center of gravity," said Roger Lackore, Senior Director of Product Development at REV Fire Group Engineering. A diesel range-extender engine is also included to support extended operations beyond three to four hours or during power outages and natural disasters.
"This fully electric fire truck represents our ongoing commitment to innovation and building durable, reliable apparatus tailored specifically for firefighters," added Kent Tyler, President of REV Fire Group. "As sustainability becomes increasingly important, this vehicle will help fire departments protect both their communities and the environment."
The rig is available for delivery in 2022 and is built with a traditional North American design that can be customized to meet each department's specific requirements. It uses locally sourced components, ensuring easy access to replacement parts and maintaining equipment in peak condition. Preorders are now open through authorized E-ONE, KME, Ferrara, or Spartan ER dealers.
