Cicero experienced a house fire yesterday afternoon, and local firefighter Josh Boyajian was on the scene, capturing some photos and sharing a detailed account of what happened.
Cicero Fire Department responded to 2523 58th Avenue for a residential fire. Upon arrival, they noticed smoke coming from the basement. Engine 2 quickly stretched two lines and worked to bring the fire under control. I arrived after most of the flames had been extinguished, but the damage was still visible. The fire appears to have been contained quickly, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It’s always a sobering reminder of how fast things can go wrong, and it’s reassuring to see the firefighters responding so swiftly.
