Prospect Heights Fire District history

This message comes from Drew Smith:

Assuming this photo was taken in 1946, the pumper on the left is believed to be a 1926 model that was purchased used in 1945. The original firehouse was constructed by volunteers in 1948 and that same year they received a Ford/Darley pumper, which isn't visible in the photo. Before the firehouse was built, the equipment was stored either in or behind a gas station—now long gone and destroyed in the late 1970s—located at the northwest corner of Elmhurst Road (IL Route 83) and Camp McDonald Road.
