The petrochemical market is booming both in production and sales

According to the latest analysis report of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, in October, the production and operation of the national oil and chemical industry maintained a good trend, showing a situation of production growth, market sales, and high price consolidation.
In October, crude oil production remained stable and normal, with a production volume of 15.806 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%. Natural gas production maintained a relatively rapid growth. The monthly production was 6.03 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 24.3%; crude oil processing volume increased steadily, with a monthly production of 27.615 million. t, a year-on-year growth of 6.0%; the growth rate of refined oil production slowed down, with output of 16.377 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. Among them, the production of gasoline and diesel was 5.003 million tons and 10.353 million tons, respectively, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year. The significant increase in international oil prices and the constant adjustment of domestic refined oil prices are the main factors that inhibit the enthusiasm of refined oil production. From January to October, crude oil production was 15.5731 million tons, an increase of 1.4% year-on-year; natural gas production was 56.09 billion cubic meters, an increase of 20.1% year-on-year; crude oil processing volume was 269.927 million tons, an increase of 6.6% year-on-year; and refined oil production was 161.225 million tons. It increased by 7.0% year-on-year.
In October, the “three acids and two alkalis” in inorganic chemical raw materials, with the exception of hydrochloric acid production decreased by 2.9% year-on-year, all other productions have increased in varying degrees. The production of sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid, and soda ash increased at an accelerating rate, with output of 4.752 million tons, 193,000 tons, and 1.578 million tons, respectively, an increase of 16.7%, 25.4%, and 14.2%; the growth rate of caustic soda production slowed down and the output was 1.476 million tons. , a year-on-year increase of 8.6%, only half the average rate of 16.2% growth in the previous nine months.
In October, ethylene production remained stable, with monthly production of 911,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%. Pure benzene and refined methanol production maintained rapid growth, with monthly production of 405,000 tons and 998,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 36.0% and 42.6%. From January to October, ethylene production was 8.819 million tons, pure benzene was 3.745 million tons, and refined methanol was 8.901 million tons, an increase of 14.3%, 31.0%, and 50.3% year-on-year respectively.
Although the demand for agrochemicals was low in October, the production of chemical fertilizers increased unabated. In the same month, the total amount of fertilizers was 5.076 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.3%. Nitrogen fertilizer production was 3.624 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%. Urea production was 2.163 million tons, an increase of 13.1% year-on-year. Phosphate fertilizer maintained a rapid growth rate. The monthly production was 1.168 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.1%. From January to October, the fertilizer output was 48.145 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%. The cumulative production of urea was 206.09 million tons, an increase of 12.6% year-on-year; and the phosphorus fertilizer reached 10.852 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.6%.
In October, driven by the rapid growth of herbicide production, the growth rate of pesticide production accelerated. The current month's output of pesticides (100%, the same below) was 127,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 26.9%. Among them, the output of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides was 39,000 tons, 11,000 tons and 49,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 11.4%, 12.4% and 67.6%. From January to October, total pesticide production was 1.403 million tons, an increase of 21.3% year-on-year.
In October, in addition to the slowdown in the production of synthetic fiber monomers in the three major synthetic materials, the production speed of synthetic resin and synthetic rubber both rose. In the same month, the output of synthetic resin was 2.682 million tons, an increase of 21.9% over the same period of the previous year. Among them, the output of PVC, PE and PP were 8.28 million tons, 615,000 tons and 625,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 17.9%, 18.5% and 24.0% respectively. The output of synthetic rubber was 189,000 tons, an increase of 24.1% over the same period of the previous year, of which butadiene rubber production was 39,000 tons, an increase of 18.9%; synthetic fiber monomer production was 835,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, and the production of synthetic fiber polymer was 923,000 tons, an increase of 31.6%. From January to October, the output of synthetic resin was 25.14 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.0%; the output of synthetic rubber was 1.786 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%; the output of synthetic fiber monomers and polymers was 8.437 million tons and 9.276 million tons respectively. The year-on-year increase was 29.0% and 18.8%, respectively.
In October, the production of rubber products continued to grow rapidly. The output of tyre tires during the month was 45.912 million, an increase of 25.1% year-on-year, of which 21.834 million were radial tires, an increase of 24.5% year-on-year; the production of rubber shoes was 182 million pairs, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%. From January to October, tire tire output was 432 million, an increase of 23.9% year-on-year, of which 197 million were radial tires, an increase of 34.0% year-on-year; rubber shoes production was 1.5798 billion pairs, a year-on-year increase of 17.4%.
Due to the high price of international oil and chemical products, the high cost of domestic energy, resources, and environmental protection will provide strong support for prices. In October, among the 164 chemical products that were tracked, the prices rose and dropped by 88 and 46 respectively in September, accounting for 53.7% and 28.0% respectively; compared with the same period of last year, the price increased by 96 kinds. There were 63 kinds of declines, accounting for 57.9% and 38.4% respectively. On the whole, the domestic chemical product market remains at a high level of consolidation.
