The growth of oil and gas depends on technology

Relying on advanced technologies to increase the level of oil and gas exploration and increase the volume of oil and gas resources is the key to the future development of oil and gas exploration and even the chemical industry. With the global shortage of oil and gas resources and rising oil and gas prices, the increase in the volume of oil and gas resources is of great significance to the entire national economy.

The reporter learned from the 2007 China Oil and Gas Forum held in Beijing recently that China's oil and gas resources proved to be 39% and 24.6%, respectively, far below the international average of over 70% and 60% respectively. From an international perspective, as of now, the world has produced more than 160 billion tons of crude oil, and the remaining recoverable reserves are more than 170 billion tons. There are still hundreds of billions of tons of oil and gas equivalents to be discovered.

From the history of oil and gas discovery in China in recent years, it can be seen that new oil and gas exploration technologies play a decisive role in increasing oil and gas recoverable reserves and oil and gas production. According to Wang Tao, Director of the China National Committee of the World Petroleum Congress, the continuous development and improvement of China's terrestrial oil production and accumulation theory have enabled us to discover Daqing Oilfield and Bohai Bay Oilfield one after another; the theoretical understanding of the foreland basin continues to deepen and advances in mountain exploration technology This led us to the discovery of the Kela 2 gas field in the Tarim Basin and the in-depth study of lithologic reservoirs. This led us to discover a number of large oil and gas fields in the deep layers of the Sulige and Songliao Basins; the continuous deepening of marine oil and gas geology theory and exploration technology. Progress has led us to discover the Tahe and Puguang large oil and gas fields; the development of offshore oil and gas exploration technologies has enabled us to discover Penglai 19-3 oilfields, Huizhou 19-1 oilfields, and Wandao Fort oilfields on the sea. In addition, an effective set of technical methods has been formed for the evaluation and exploration of coalbed methane, which has achieved certain results in the Qinshui Basin in Shanxi Province. All of these further illustrate the deepening of oil and gas geology theory and the development of exploration technologies. They are the most powerful support for breaking new exploration fields and achieving new exploration results.

Since the end of the 20th century, some new large-scale and giant oil and gas fields in the world have been discovered one after another, making people see the hope of alleviating oil and gas shortages. In recent years, China has also accelerated the pace of development, major innovations in oil and gas geological theory and breakthroughs in exploration technologies, new exploration ideas such as foreland basins and marine carbonates, and new technologies such as 3D seismic and sequence stratigraphy. Continuously discover new oil and gas discoveries.

Fu Chengde, secretary-general of the 2007 China Oil and Gas Forum Organizing Committee, said that at present, the fine exploration in the mature land area has been developing steadily. Although many years have been explored in these areas, the potential is still great, and large fields can be found in the future. The new onshore basins found in Qinghai-Tibet and other regions are important areas for the strategic replacement of resources. Oil and gas exploration in China's sea areas is at a stage of great discoveries, and the degree of exploration is low. In particular, the development potential of the South China Sea is huge. At present, offshore exploration has developed rapidly and deepwater exploration has started. To make significant progress in these areas, we must rely on breakthroughs in related technologies.

At the same time, the scale of unconventional oil and gas resources, such as coalbed methane, oil sands, and oil shale, is very large, and is an important supplement to conventional oil and gas, but it has not yet been explored and developed on a large scale. For example, the recoverable coal-bed methane resources amount to 10.86 trillion cubic meters, and only 0.06 trillion cubic meters are currently proven. It is yet to be explored using new exploration technologies.

After decades of exploration, the oil and gas exploration areas in China have shifted from areas where the ground and geological conditions are relatively simple to complex areas, and exploration difficulties have increased. To this end, the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with relevant departments, has intensified its investment in oil and gas exploration technology, and has included the exploration and development of large-scale oil and gas fields in national major scientific and technological special projects. The national high-tech research and development plans and national science and technology support plans have also applied to oil and gas exploration technologies. Completed the deployment. Experts believe that the continuous innovation of geological theory and the continuous advancement of exploration technologies will surely promote and promote the discovery of oil and gas fields in China.
