Industry self-regulation promotes China's auto exports to achieve a qualitative leap

At the National Conference on Export of Automobile Products recently held, 29 key automobile and component companies such as FAW Group jointly issued the "About the Auto Enterprise's Initiative to Strengthen Export Self-discipline". The "Proposal" was signed by auto and auto parts companies and was the first self-discipline proposal for export in China's auto industry. At the meeting, Hu Maoyuan, chairman of SAIC Group, read the proposal, and Wu Yanfeng, general manager of FAW Group, and Tan Xuguang, chairman of Weichai Power Co., Ltd., as business representatives, said that they would actively promote the continued export of Chinese cars in accordance with the requirements of the "Proposal." Develop healthily.

To make exports bigger, we must strengthen self-discipline

With the rapid development of China's auto industry, China's auto exports have also embarked on a journey of becoming bigger and stronger. More and more Chinese auto products have begun to enter the international market.

According to statistics, from January to August this year, the total number of exported automobiles was 354,900, an increase of 65.21% year-on-year, and the foreign exchange earned through exports was US$4.102 billion, which was a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times. The cumulative export of engines earned US$665 million, an increase of 27.06% year-on-year; auto parts, accessories and The accumulative export of automobile bodies earned foreign currency of US$9.809 billion, an increase of 33.16% over the same period of last year. Zhang Guobao, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, pointed out at the meeting that there is a general trend for certain Chinese automotive products to enter the international market, which is necessary and possible for the development of the Chinese automobile industry.

However, with the rapid increase in the number of export products, there has been an increase in intellectual property disputes and product quality disputes. A large number of articles on the export of Chinese automotive products have appeared in both domestic and foreign media and have been mixed. Many reports have pointed out that Chinese auto companies are eager to export their products. Some companies are inadequately prepared, products are not properly selected, quality assurance and after-sales services are not in place, and many problems have been caused. This has adversely affected the reputation of Chinese autos, resulting in certain areas. The behavior of individual companies has affected the export of other companies' products.

At present, the low-level development approach pursued by the pursuit of incremental profits has not been able to promote Chinese auto exports more forcefully. Product quality and after-sales services have become bottlenecks in Chinese auto exports and have hindered Chinese auto products from being faster. Enter the international market. Strengthening industry self-discipline is a way to eliminate this short-board effect.

Self-discipline to achieve automotive exports from large to strong

There are six principles in the "Proposal", which are issued to the entire vehicle and parts export companies from the aspects of intellectual property protection and after-sales service. A total of 29 vehicles and parts companies signed the "Advocate", including FAW, Dongfeng, SAIC, BAIC, GAC, JAC, Hafei, Geely, Changhe, CNHTC, Yutong, Nanjing Auto, Jiangling, Great Wall and Liuzhou Wuling. , Lifan, ZTE, Zhengzhou Nissan, Xiamen Jinlong, Weichai Power, Wanxiang Group, Guangxi Yuchai, and Yanfeng Visteon, etc., basically covered domestic key vehicle and component companies.

The "Proposal" advocates that enterprises should enhance their awareness of intellectual property protection and strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights; strengthen after-sales services to protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers; strengthen export self-regulation and standardize business practices; improve independent innovation mechanisms of enterprises and actively carry out independent innovation activities; Adhere to integrity management, actively perform social responsibilities, establish a good brand image, accelerate the formulation of corporate internationalization strategies, and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation.

Only through self-discipline, auto companies can achieve the content advocated by the proposal. China's auto exports can achieve a quantum leap from quality to quality. The lack of increase will be effectively resolved through the improvement of export quality, and at the same time it will increase the number of exports to a higher level, truly enter the international market, and compete with international auto companies in the global market.

Yan Yanfeng, speaking on behalf of the company, said that automobile companies will further strengthen communication and cooperation between enterprises and enterprises, enterprises and users, establish healthy market competition and partnerships, and realize the transformation of automobile exports from rough growth to economic growth. Cooperation in talents, technology, etc. breaks through barriers to intellectual property rights and trade protection in international trade and forms a synergy with China’s auto exports; accelerates the shift to a strategic market, strengthens the construction of sales and service networks, and makes full use of domestic market increments. The development opportunities brought about by cooperation with local partners, leveraging on development, closely grasping opportunities for international cooperation, and promoting parts and components companies to enter the international OEM system.

Tan Xuguang also stated that parts and components companies will continue to improve product quality and grades, achieve product quality and meet international advanced standards; strive to enhance independent innovation capabilities, make full use of global resources, take the road of independent innovation, and strive to master core technologies; enhance the maintenance of intellectual property rights With its own brand awareness, it protects intellectual property and brand image legally, and jointly safeguards the rights and image of Chinese auto parts companies; pays attention to environmental protection, consciously accepts supervision from the government and industry, integrates social responsibility into the company’s development strategy, and vigorously promotes Energy conservation and emission reduction work, reduce environmental pollution, and strive to build green enterprises.

Cheng Yugui, head of the Great Wall Motor Propaganda Department, said that Great Wall Motors has signed the "Proposal" and will try its best to meet the requirements mentioned in the proposal. He believes that the signing of the "Proposal" does not require exporters to specify details, but rather to constrain exporters from the perspective of ideas and concepts so that exporters will have a good attitude and attitude toward exports during the early stages of product export. It will help companies to make long-term plans for exports and regulate the export market.

Regarding the issuance of the "Proposal," industry experts believe that self-discipline in the industry will be a powerful boosting force in the development chain of China's auto exports from big to strong. China’s auto exports have traditionally experienced competition for price cuts and mutual killings, which have not been changed for many years. Nowadays, the requirements of the international market have prompted Chinese auto companies to sign the "Proposal", how to translate the initiative into practical actions, how to transform the self-regulatory behavior, which is now restricted, into a permanent driving force for the promotion of Chinese auto exports while the auto industry continues to develop. It is an issue that automobile companies should seriously consider.
